On many occasions, we have talked about the truth about the light or low-calorie products and findings it has shown that sometimes are not as desirable as they seem.
But if we talk about a food such as cheese, so does? What is the real difference between them or that could be considered healthier? We analyze some studies on the plain cheese and low – fat and how this data affects our cholesterol.
Analyzing the effects on cholesterol cheese
A recent study, conducted by the University of Copenhagen, has been proposed specifically analyze the role that represents a food such as cheese, so consumed and desired, in our health.
Thus, research has been based on a sample of 139 individuals, divided into three groups : the first with a regular intake of fatty cheese (80g), the second with a shot of reduced-fat cheese (80g) and a third following a diet without any of the above.
After 12 weeks of follow – up results were processed and the conclusions were more than surprising. Not only they had not increased cholesterol levels of the groups taking different cheeses, but in particular in the case of group eating fatty cheese, levels of HDL (known as good cholesterol) had increased significantly.
Results that have surprised largely because of the “bad” reputation of the cheese on this issue, but the fact is that, just like when we talked about the mythical case of eggs, sometimes we confuse the fact that a food contains high cholesterol, to the fact that increased NO levels in blood.
More data revealed
In addition to this study, which concluded that the intake of fat cheese did not adversely affect our cholesterol levels, the same University of Copenhagen helped another investigation regarding this product.
In this case, the study analyzed other factor relevant to our health, a metabolic approach based on intestinal bacteria and how they were affected by the regular intake of fatty cheeses.
The result analyzed in a group of 15 subjects under three different diets, confirmed that eating cheese and milk helped to increase intestinal bacteria and metabolic activity.
One thing we must not forget
As has been demonstrated, sometimes we have preconceived ideas of certain foods, especially in the case of those who have a higher fat content, which is why we often choose without thinking by those substitutes that we provide as light or low fat.
The truth is that it is clear that products that are marketed as low fat will be less caloric, but sometimes and as has been demonstrated, the original products provide other benefits to our health.
Despite this, we must not forget that in this particular case we speak of cheese and, of course, generally is a food extremely calorie and high fat intake and salt, which, as you can imagine consumption of this product should always be in moderation and some control.
